As it's general purpose soothing creme, I wonder if it might prevent chafing just as well as minty bum lard. Has anyone tried smearing this on their wotsits?
No, haven't tried it, but its probably not thick enough, tends to get absorbed rather tham protect the skin from abrasion.
Nappy rash cream would be better as its not so readily absorbed. I've heard sudocrem is used or there's also metanium but thats a manky brown colour!
mtbtomo is probably right about the thickness but for those who want to try it [PSA mode on] go to your chemist and ask for a 500g tub of aqueous cream. Non branded E45 for about £1.50.
E45 good post ride bath/shower. For cheap ride cream try Sudocrem or Savlon.
e45 is great for preventing chafing, and treated chapped arses, used it on the C2C was a godsend!
Sudocrem here, got tubs of the stuff all over from repeatedly forgetting it and buying new. Only ever bother for long events like Merida marathons, Dyfi enduro, C2C. Not for regular rides.
Seen Tesco do a cheaper own brand version that I might try (in 5 years when the stuff I have runs out/gets lost).
germolene, just cos it's got anaesthetic in there too!
Assos arse lard. I would not trust my bits to anyone else. Seriously, there are some things you should not skimp on. I have had bad saddle sores before and they can ruin a race.
By the way, a great 'cure' for saddle sores is Boots own brand nappy rash cream. Smother it on overnight and after a couple of treatments, sores seem to disappear (the milder ones anyway).
sudocream
Aqueous BP is exactly the same as E45 but it smells a bit less pretty and costs a fraction as much.
E45 and aqueous cream are moisturising, sudocrem (nappy rash cream) is barrier cream to help prevent chafing and on chafed skin, that's what you need on rides and emollient (moisturiser)on unbroken skin to keep suppleness and prevent dry skin.
Ta everyone. Just feeling a bit chafed today. 🙂
