just wondering if there is a ebike designed for distance ?

i know if you only used a eco setting that would work, but is there a more specific design.

anyone ?

There are bikes that can use 2 batteries simultaneously.

i ran 2 batteries on my Haibike 10 years ago. £600 for the spare. weighed a ton.

i was thinking of something like this, but with guards and a rack.

I’ve thought about adding the second battery option to my Trek Allant 9.9 but with it showing 100 miles range in eco mode on a flatter ride when I’m riding around the 15.5mph cutoff I can’t see the point, I’m unlikely to ride it that far.

The Guinness book of records says the furthest ridden on an ebike was done on a Volt Pulse.

But if you turn the motor off, the range is pretty much infinite.

I worked for a Volt dealer at the time. There was much scepticism.

Possible to tune Specialized with their app which is supposed to make it more efficient.

Piece and Muller make a two battery full suss bike which is so heavy it has its own gravitational field. https://www.r-m.de/en-gb/bikes/superdelite-mountain/

M1 Sportteknic do a mahoosive battery model too: https://www.m1-sporttechnik.de/en/das-spitzing-evolution-2/ but it has a 120nm motor which will fire you up the hill super quick and suck the life out of teh battery super quick too.

A very efficient bike, so start with a road bike I'd reckon.

A pal has a eGravel bike, the Ribble - works well for him.

What do you mean by 'distance'?
For some 100miles in a day is a big ride, might be doable. If you are looking for one to do the Highland 550, no chance!

something that i can tour on if needed, so to ride up to 100 mile on consecutive days. so the 550 would be acheivable with nights in accomodation to charge batteries.

Have a play with this Bosch calculator? You can enter the type of ebike/motor/battery etc and your weight, terrain, etc. Should give an idea of what combo works for or against yr target.

I think a Cairn BRAVe might fit the bill. Comes in a flat bar option too. https://singletrackworld.com/charged/2021/07/14/cairn-brave/

My wife is looking for something similar, road tour and hotel/hostel/B and B overnight...looked at the Ribble but they are fixed in the frame battery types from what we can see. (We've stayed at a fair few places where there wasn't anywhere to put the bike inside...so charging overnight would be an issue)

that Cairn looks ideal, in a flat bar mode it would be perfect.
and the ability to take the battery off is the way to go for hostels and hotels.
