Have we done this yet? Abs to improve e-bike riders safety.....surely that isn’t required on a mountain bike?

I haven't checked for a few years but on motorbikes you have to turn off abs when go offroad.

There are lots of things that aren't required on a mountain bike but there's plenty of people out there with money to burn that will believe the marketing bollocks.

As its on ebikes maybe they thought the people too lazy to do all the pedalling themselves couldn't be bothered to do the braking properly either!

What next? E bikes that do the steering too.

Plus abs adds weight. Sounds pointless and a negative to me.

According bosch guys at magura, There doing it due to being a fair few crashes in Europe, this is because they found 2 things one being people aren't used to the power of disc brakes and 2 the majority of ebikes are bought for commuting and a lot of these people aren't used to traveling at a constant higher speeds and are locking up and losing control.

Isn’t there a different category of ebike in Europe though, that goes up to 45kph, thus necessitating betterer brakes?

There might be something in that.....the answer to braking bumps at trail centres!

All ludicrous unless they’re for bikes that can go significantly faster than legal ones in this country imo

They say it’s designed for novice riders, how many novices will spend 4k on a bike?

be realistic, thats a small market.

Looking at comments on various forums, Facebook, here. I'd say that a good half of all ebike buyers across the board are what you'd call novices. Or at least massively inexperienced.
