Hi Guys,
So I originally thought my DX light charger wasn't working properly, ordered a UK charger, plugged it into the battery and the same happens. Starts as a red light so looks like it is charging & then goes to green after 30 seconds. Clearly the battery is flat but the charger thinks it is fully charged. As i've tried two different charger's and the second one being brand new it is looking like the battery is faulty?
Any ideas?
Also spent most of the morning with deal extreme live customer service to try & get a replacement or refund with no success!!
Cheers
GN
Has the battery pack gotten at all moist lately?
They are far from water tight, once the wet gets in the first thing it ruins is the PCB at the top of the pack (which I presume does the Chargey/protectioney bit (not a sparky myself)...
Mine got a proper drowning a while back, straight replacement was £20, took the knackered pack apart and managed to dry out and scavenge 4 usable 18650 cells for other uses...
An extra £20 to carry on using a £50 light Hmmm, sort of seemed sensible effectively made it a £70 light though, Kinda 😕
Wouldn't mind finding out if the new version Bastid's battery pack is available separately anyone got an "SKU" No for it?
As i noted on another thread my DX battery won't charge. Its first use got a real soaking at Newnham 24/12 and since then it's ability to charge has got worse although it was ok to start with.
However, i've been told charging it off my lap top etc probebly wasn't a good idea due to too high a voltage and the battry pack may now be fried.
Stuck the american charger in a shaver socket as also suggested and the red light comes on....but its still red 8rs later 🙁
-Scamper why not try wedging a coat hanger in for good measure then? If it's been soaked then it's bolloxed, honest... Get a new pack and keep it dry this time...
Hi Cookeaa,
Where did you get a replacement battery for £20?
I have seen them on Magicshine UK for £37 plus delivery (£4.95)
I ordered a new light with new Alu battery from DX as a fall back but god knows when it will arrive!!
DX to a replacement battery for 30 dollars. However, i'm scrubbing that idea for delivery time alone.
Smudge will probably do you a better pack but they can be ordered directly from DX...
This one: SKU32756 see...
my battery wasn't lasting more than 30 mins so i bought another from dx. this one seems fine..
you get what you pay for really, ie a cheap light
@Geordynige - how do you know the problem is not with the light itself or the connectors?
Are you able to get your hands on a voltmeter / multimeter and check the voltage of the battery and charger?
The pack on it's own seemed to arrive pretty quick I think the long lead time on the full light kits is down to the sheer amount of assembly required and the number of parts they probably need to gather from differenc suppliers, I don't think you'll find a cheaper 4 cell battery, but as you've already found it still has it's drawbacks...
Mine lives wrapped in clingfilm in a modified storage bottle(along with a tube and some tools on all night rides
*hijack*
Did I read somewhere that the connections can be iffy on these batteries?....if so, is there a fix? (mine currently working OK and I want to keep it that way!)
cynic-al : there have been a few posts on the connections. Here's what I did to fix mine:

To stop it happening I'd recommend being "gentle" when connection/disconnecting.
@ couldashouldawoulda
yep it could be the light.
When I connect the light to the battery it will shine bright for a few seconds with a red light on the back button and then go totally dead with no light on the button.
I have bought a whole new light kit from DX with the Aluminium battery but it is taking a while to arrive.
Don't have access to a voltmeter/mulitmeter but will take it to maplins later this afternoon
**slight hijack**
is this the one with the better battery? THIS ONE
