I'm doing the D2D this year.. first timer in a team of three... the thing is, has anyone got anything they can tell me about it? looking on the web is like trying to find membership information to a secret society.. all three of us have looked and we're not really sure whether this is the biking version of the masons..

Anyone shed any light?... camping arrangements? what's the course like? good atmosphere? much in the way of an arena? and do I need to arrive with a bared nipple and rolled up trouser leg? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi

Full details are at http://www.thetfordmtbracing.com/

The course is flat, fast an not technical. Camping is in a massive field. It is at High Lodge this year so there is an on site cafe, water provision etc etc.

At the moment the course is bone dry and very fast.

If it stays dry it will be great.

I've vowed only to do it again if the weather is guaranteed to be nice. The sound of expensive drivetrain eating itself is still ringing in my ears. Otherwise, a great, friendly and very well organised event. Don't let the flatness lead you to believe it's easy - there's a lot of pedalling. There's a local condition known as Thetford Back too.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can camp from Friday.

Great film by the way, although it doesn't fully capture the grimness of last year by any means.

Great Video - it really captures the true horror of 2010 ๐Ÿ˜€
I'm not [s]racing[/s]taking part this year - but I'll probably turn up to have wander about and shout encouragement at a few others.
Unless it rains solidly for the next week the course should be great.

I'm doing it. Did it last year solo when it was a bit damp, but I think this year should be nicer. I was over there the other day and the trails are absurdly fast at the moment.

SS. Pondering gear ratios. Might go for something painfully high this year to be able to keep up with the people with gears.

Make sure you plan for that 2-3am period when it just feels awful. Everyone else feels awful as well, so just keep taking the gels and don't give up.

Bring some warm clothes. You can get very cold very quickly when you get off the bike and go back to your car.

Dawn is worth waiting for.

Simon and I are making up the 18 Bikes solo teams. Si's first time and my second (I endured last year's mudfest).

I'm so hoping it does stay dry as all I could think from last year was how cool the course would be in the dry.

Should be fun, ahem

Thanks, it wasn't very much fun to film in either ๐Ÿ™ So I didn't as much night footage as I had hoped due to a soggy camera.

I did the race t in 2008...and it rained all night then. I must be cursed.
Good luck and fingers crossed...

Its a nice course for this year, a touch over 10 miles, good mix of singletrack and fire road, and nice and fast at the moment, a bit of rain in the week really wont do the course any harm, as it could do with it.

The arena being at High Lodge is good, loads more room and the facilities being open helps during the night if you cant be bothered to make your own cup of tea!

should be fun, and good luck to all who are competing.
