[#2620471]

Sorting out a bike for a guy at work and he's munched through an Alivio middle ring in next to no time. Can the deore ones still be had in steel? Any reason why a 32t-4 hole wouldn't fit the Alivio? I know ones 8spd and the other 9spd but I think the spacing would still be the same so it should work.

Anything else that's durable?

It will fit fine - as long as the bcd is the same you can use just about any chainring. CRC (and lots of other people) do the Deore version (m532)

That's what I thought but I know there's been some oddness with XT in the past.

This one certainly didn't look like it and it's worn as fast as a cassette and chain which is unusual for steel.

Which one is the steel ring though, M510 or M532?

Am I right in thinking the M510 is the steel one?
