I've had a pain in my foot for a couple of months. Docs in the UK couldn't find anything ("maybe it's a verruca" was as good as it got) and sent me away telling me to come back if it got really painful. After not being able to walk without a lot of pain I went to a doctors here in Luxembourg and he had a go at it. He wasn't quite sure what it was but got the scissors and a scalpel out to cut some skin away to ease the pressure on my foot a bit. Anyway, as I'm leaving he comes out of his room and says he thinks he has it. What's the cause of 3 months of pain?

A 2mm length of gear cable filament that I've picked up when walking without shoes on my patio where I do all my fettling.

I had something like that for a while too, was convinced it was something in my sock, turns out it was a bit of light bulb that shattered in my bathroom!
