[#2161559]

Rode into work through Edinburgh Park and the Gyle today (huge business park on the edge of Edinburgh), trying to find an easier way to work. That didn't really go too well cos the route I'd plotted from the map didn't seem to exist on the ground (like, there were buildings and a half-built tr*m l*ne in the way) but that is incidental.

Anyway, was waiting by some lights and a guy on a long travel Kona (prob a Stinky), pisspot, goggles, full arm and leg armour, saddle down, the blue and red Kona chocolate starfish kit etc crosses the road in front of me. Wouldn't be out of place on an uplift day or in Le Gets.

Shout DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!! at him - he ignored me and rode on.

Each to their own, he's clearly living the dream on the way to work, just thought it was a bit of an odd commuting outfit that's all.

Anyone else on here a dudemuter????

At 8.45 in the morning? Unlikely...

By the way I think dudemuter is a new word.

If you saw a corporate wage slave wandering aimlessly like a zombie towards his office in Edinburgh Park that'd be me, such a clinically depressing place business parks are

What bike you on and I'll shout duuuuuuuuuuuuuude if I ever see you ๐Ÿ™‚

Toffee Apple red Cannondale cyclocross bike. I don't often cut through Edinburgh Park - usually go past RBS in the A8 as I work in centre of town. This was the first time since the path from Gogar Station Road reopened (it was shut at the railway bridge for ages) and they have built a tram line across where I remembered my cut-through was in the meantime so got a bit misplaced.

Got that beat. Guy in belfast commutes to work on a genesis abyss, panaracer uffda tyres, wearing black and yellow fox push pants from circa '99 and a fox rampage full face helmet. Yep.

There are two routes that tunnel under the bypass from Gogar Station Road: the route round the back of Dalton scrappy and the plant hire place (which is the one I think you are referring to) and the footpath over the field slightly further north:

There was a discussion about the Gyle downhiller earlier this year. I've never bumped into him, but apparently he is a weel kent face.

There are a couple of possibilities other than lack of self awareness:

1. He put all his bike money into one bike he can really enjoy at the weekend
2. He finds commuting on a heavy bike helps his fitness
3. He goes large somewhere on his way home

Only the last of these really explain the outfit, but he's probably sweating like a shire horse's knackers by the time he gets to work so doesn't want to wear his work gear.

Or he's a ****t?
