[Closed] Dual Helmet lights - what's available?

[#4313463]

I've got a collection of Exposure lights including Joystick and Diablo for helmet use.

I dunno if it's my advancing years but I seem to be having problems getting the sweet spot with just one lamp so was wondering what dual light rigs there are. - I'm thinking mounting them at ear level rather than on top

Something like two Exposure Whiteeye add ons would be ideal but there's the battery question.

Four4th's stuff looks good but I think the lamps might be too big.

Thoughts folks?

I have been using Four4th lights for 3 years now and can whole heatedly recommend them. If you have a specific requirement for two head units I am sure Del who runs Four4tg will be able to come up with something neat and. Wry powerful.

The lamp unit for helmets is neat, small and light benefitting from robustness - I hit a lot of trees!

Mike

I noticed that a couple of guys I ride with have Ay ups but god their
website is confusing! - I think I'll ask the guys next time I see them.

Shortcut
I chatted with someone (Del??) from 4 4ths at the Army Enduro and liked the look of the kit. I guess you're talking about the Exodus light?

The Gloworm X2 is one light head (about 80g including mount) with twin optics - standard it comes with a spot on one side and a flood on the other. It mounts to the front of the helmet and gives a bright spread of light and decent throw.

A lot of lights have a 'halo' effect around a small hotspot of light. The X2 gives a much larger hotspot with no halo. On Spot/Spot it's a smaller hotspot (but still larger than most reflector based lights) with no halo so good on the road.

Not convinced a dual setup is the way to go, a good quality single light will give an excellent throw . I keep recommending the MJ-872 from Magicshine- it's easily helmet mounted (though with a remote battery), it has good throw, but also an excellent beam pattern. Nothing else has given me better all round vision (including running multiple lights). But other, similiar lights will do the same.

And also, the other thing I always say... Ayup are beautifully made, a good company, have excellent mounts, good warranty... But not very much light, for too much money.

Northwind

I've been using a Joystick and now a Diablo since 09. For some reason I don't seem to be getting on with twisty ST this year, hence wondering if two very wide apart helmet lamps would help.

Obviously I have a bar light as well.

Which joystick and diablo, though? None of them are very bright and they get worse quickly as you get older. There's no comparison between an 872 (or similiar) and even the best joystick.

For Ay Up
This for Single Helmet
http://www.ayup-lights.com/products/78/

This for helmet & bars
http://www.ayup-lights.com/products/103/

Comes with chargers and mounts, Helmet mounts are good.

Every so often they offer lamp upgrades so they replace the insides (or whole light) at bargain prices.

Edit now available in the UK - I got them tax free at a better exchange rate over here though
