My DT Swiss RWS Thru Bolt is broken, plastic handle splines all chewed up. And strangely enough I'm reluctant to spend £44 on another one. Anybody knew of any alternatives, can't use a standard QR as the hub is a 10mm.

It's for the rear so 10mm x 135mm.

Cheers,
Roo

I bought 2 of these about 1 month ago. Loads of posts on this. I read the posts like yours and am now careful not to over tighten - They have solved my squeaking problems and have had no problems with them - I think you can over tightnen them and tehn you risk mashing the plastic teeth. I put a bit of copper grease between teh handle and the locking washer which helps to undo it.

I have a spesh 9mm QR on an old front wheel and I think you can still order these though specialized from previous posts - you could also use a through bolt instead of a QR. I think you can get a 10mm from speccy as well.

FR I got a new 9mm front Axle from Spesh, hadn't heard they did a 10mm rear one too, may investigate further.

Lots of stuff talked about 9/10mm QR's on this thread

no worries, not a major issue for me anymore as my new/main bikes rear hub isn't convertable to thru axle but is tubeless rim unlike my Pro II wheelset on my other bike (using a 9mm front axle).

Either way the NC-17 is an option if I wanted it.

Yeah the NC-17 is ideal I just couldn't find anywhere with it in stock, I'll order it from that German shop.

Thanks folks

I asked Superstar this a few weeks ago, and they are doing hollow 9/10mm QRs for £10 each when they get them in month or so.

Sod paying £25 for a QR, im waiting for these!

Just did the 10mm conversion last night on my ProIIs using a Hadley 10mm allen bolt from Balle Racing. $38 (£25?) delivered, seems like quality kit (I'll let you know once I've riden it) not too heavy and does up nice and tight with a 6mm allen key

Anyone know if it would be possible to use one of these NC-17 10mm QRs with an old style Saint rear mech? The threaded section looks to be longer than the Hope through bolt which I gather was a bit short...
This would be for use in a vertical SS dropout so slippage not an issue.

The Hadley bolt rode fine by the way - you knew it would of course; it's just a bolt

I had the NC-17 one for 2 rides and it stripped the threads on the QR handle, it was pretty poor build quality imho, i swapped it for the DT one, which altho is £20ish more ,its much better quality
