I,m thinking of changeing from Fox floats to DT Swiss XMM 140. Has anyone had any experience with these forks and would you from swap float rlc's.
A few reviews i have read seem promising, plus longer service intervals, but whats the reality in use?

I went from F120 RLC (QR) to XMM 140 (15mm). The Fox forks were better at the small bumps but the DTs were stiffer. This could mostly be due to the through axle. Longevity-wise I can't really offer a comparison. In my opinion, the Fox's were high maintenance. I used the XMMs without issue for 5 months (without even opening them up). Then some tosser nicked my bike.

I wouldn't pay full price for either fork. There are DT Swiss bargains to be had. I imported mine from Germany and paid about £400 a year ago. For me, the 200hrs service interval is a big plus but the manual actually recommends an oil change/inspection every 50 hours.

I have the 120 version and find them very stiff and subtle over the wee roots at Drumlanrig.

There was a thread about these a couple of weeks ago.
I have had terrible experiences with Pace stuff and wouldn't touch them again with a steralised barge pole. This seemed to be a fairly common theme and was putting a lot of people off the DT stuff.

Did they work for long? And did Pace give two hoots when they stopped working? Or indeed any hoots at all? I don't think Pace ever gave me a single hoot through any of my problems. I had an issue with my Margura Durins and their man gave me lots of hoots (and some spare parts) I would have more Maguras

Pace were a terrible company to deal with regarding warranties 10 years ago. I cannot comment on the customer service standards of the current regime as the previous experience was enough to put me off for life. DT Swiss unfortunately suffers from guilt by association. O

Pace were apologetic first time my fighters pissed oil out the seals just 'cos I leant the bike over....new seals and oil for free...but I had no forks for a while and had to pay postage. When it became a habit...and the launch controlled died the second time....I flogged 'em on. Shame....if only they were reliable.....functionally they were incredible.

DT recommend a 50hr oil change, but don't supply the tools to enable your LBS to carry this out. How do they propose to honour their 200hr service intervals if you can't do your 50hr inspection and oil change?
I've also seen problems with their version of the Launch Control inherted from Pace.
I didn't like them before I had to deal with them, and I don't care for them much now.
If I took my forks into a local shop for an oil bath change, I'd expect them to say "it'll be ready ready tomorrow" Not "we have to send them off because they don't trust us enough to sell us the tools to open them up".
Like Pace forks before them, they're great when they work, but I saw too many failures in too short a timescale to convince me.
Fox and Rockshox kit just work. And they don't make promises they can't keep.

Great forks, but the servicing has to be done by DT due to the restriction that they have placed upon tool and servicing knowlege availability. I'm still a RS man myself, but will probably move over to DT once they allow local centres to service their products.

Having had a set apart (Dunno which ones exactly, 120mm-ish carbon ones £700 worth....) to service I'd say they are no better made than Rockshox, and they don't work as well. I wouldn't touch them now, personally, now I've seen what they're made of. Fox/RS wipe the floor with them.

I had the Pace fighters and had no problems and they were great forks. I then bought the DT Swiss ones with the carbon lowers and loved them but because I'm a bike tart I replaced them, wish I had kept them, they had a slightly different feel, cant explain it but they fely very nice. Go for it or get the Bos ones there super as well.

I've have some EXC 150's on my Prophet and they have been faultless in the 2.5 years they have been on there. They have never been professionally serviced but I have dropped the lowers every 3 months or so and applied copious amounts of Crystolube to the seals and bushings.

Mine as as plush now as when I first bought them, and (IMO) they are still the nicest looking fork on the market.

If I was to think of negatives I'd as the spring is too linear; I'd prefer a ramp up n the compression rate towards the last 35mm of the stroke. Also, the launch control lever can get knocked thus altering the rebound mid ride....I've made a fix for this but didn't expect to have to on a top end fork.

I have a set of 130mm DTSwiss and two Pace RC39's and have previously had three other Pace forks - all have been great. Very good performance for the weight.
