Tried Northwave artic boots and 1st ride feet got soaked a week ago. Water clearly gets in from the top down your leg and pedaling opens the seal. Not impressed.
2nd ride cut the tops of endura overshoes and used them to provide a seal at the top of the boot. Worked a treat. No water ingress on 3 hour ride. Feet dry and warm in merino soxs inside ๐
So you got the effect of overshoes by cutting up a pair of overshoes?
I use a pair on cutdown dry suit ankle cuffs over the boot tops. Stops water getting into the top of my boots - lovely dry feet even wearing the boots when I hose the boots down to clean them after a ride.
Marigold glove cuffs do the job just fine, you can get the black ones if you're bothered about colour......
Ankle cuffs are the way ahead. No I needed a water proof boot as well. Overshoes dont last long with me.
Now why didnt I think of that. 'dry suit ankle cuffs' Mind you I had a pair of overshoes ๐
Ah just found them. The overshoe cuff has one advantage in that its a velcro fit and already cuff shaped to the shoe.
Is wearing plastic bags inside your shoes out then??
yes - the sweat would make them as wet with plastic bags
Is wearing plastic bags inside your shoes out then??
.........or filling your boots with goose fat?
