[#1263387]

Had a bugger of a ride yesterday. Got a puncture and after a lot of fiddling, knackering the replacement tube, having the tyre turn itself inside out and ending up having to carry my bike home (only a mile).

Luckily the tyre (a Conti Vapour) was out of tread anyway. Luckily had a Spesh Adrenaline knocking around so swapped the Cont Explorer off the front on to the back and put the Adrenaline on the front. It's a 2.2in but bloomin eck it's a BIG tyre. The Explorer is a 2.1 but the two look miles apart.

Anyway tons of grip off the Adrenaline but blimey it's a draggy bugger. An hour along the cut and a few laps of Wessa lake and I'm toasted.

Can't afford anything else so looks like extra fitness gains are on the way!

I popped some 2.4 Advantages on my bike the other day, then went off and rode it 60+ kilometers round London... my god it was hard work! They're just to draggy and heavy for normal riding I think, probably good for downhill though...

2.4 is BIG. Were you riding off road? I'd only consider tyres that big on a totally dedicated off road toughy machine.

If you think the advantages are bad I've got one of the rear that replaced a Tioga Factory DH 2.3...
