[#11825512]

I am going to get an one up dropper post to replace the KS one I have. The dilemma I have is on the length. From the middle of my saddle rail to the top of the clamp is 195mm. The 150 post is 183mm stack higher where as the 180 shimmed to 160 is 193mm. Would you go for the 180 the get max drop or the 150 and have a bit of room to adjust the saddle height if needed. I have no intention of replacing my saddle and if needed to would get the same again as the WTB saddle shape seems to suit me.

That is very tight, I'd go with the shorter one. I have read suggestions that dropper posts do not like being clamped over the bushing which it would be on the longer versions.

I’ve got a 210mm One Up dropper on my Liteville 301 and that’s completely slammed in the frame. It doesn’t seem to bother it but maybe it’s more tolerant being 34.9mm diameter?

I'd go 150 route as even changing pedals or shoes down the line can affect saddle height and you will be pretty tight with the longer post

It barely seems worth the risk for 10mm however if there's any chance you might be changing frames or selling the post in future then the longer one might be better to future proof.

I'd be tempted to say the longer one. With the collar sat on top of the seat clamp, less worry about getting the clamp tight enough to stop it slipping.

I had a similar choice to make, decided to go for the shorter post on advice that for steep terrain or bike parks it's useful to be able to have a lower extended height.

I was in the same situation and went for the longer-drop post - even going down 5mm on my crank length to make it fit better.

Then I found out that...

dropper posts do not like being clamped over the bushing

...seems true in the case of the OneUp - because it's a bit temperamental about returning and I need to get the clamp force exactly right.

Still worth it on balance, but a slight PITA.

Thanks all. On reflection I have gone for the shorter one. The additional 10mm of adjustment swung it for me plus I won’t miss what I have never had interns of dropped seat height. Going the 50mm jump from my current one will feel like a huge difference anyway.
