Now I've got a reverb on my 26" FS trail bike and probably don't realise how much I actually use it.

Yesterday while descending a long stretch of narrow, slippy, some bits off-camber with my saddle at typical XC jhey boy height on my XC jhey boy 29'er HT I realised that even hanging off the back it all felt a bit strange.

You're that far back to get low enough to feel stable (well I was anyway) it's hard to maintain any weight over the forks to get decent front end grip. Get up a bit to get more weight on the front and it all gets a bit sketchy, well at any appreciable speed you do.

I reckon that for days when I'm not bumbling round the local trails or racing a dropper is the future.

Do you not have a QR on the 29er?

Brilliant except mine was damaged beyond repair after 6 months use... Only to be told I should have serviced it more, during that 6 months, except the Operation and Maintenance Manual says NOTHING about servicing requirements or schedule.

In fairness SRAM did replace it, along with a snotty letter saying it needs servicing more, but still with no guidance on when or how often.

I did love having it, but I've quickly got used to not having one again.

Yup, behind the saddle is a bad place to be! I have no idea why all the high-saddle nazis keep bleating on about still being able to get there... ๐Ÿ˜‰
