The cable on my KS Lev Integra is sticking making the dropper initially hard to operate and then not closing the valve fully meaning it drops again as soon as I put weight on it.

Is it OK to lube the cable?

What should I use as lube?

What's the best way to apply it?

Are you 100% it's the cable sticking? If mine is a bit sticky feeling I whip it out of the frame and clean the mechanics on the bottom (Integra model) and this normally sorts it. Once unclipped from the post the cable actuation usually feels silky

Dunno about lubing as never done that

It's just a gear cable so yep, you can lube it, you can replace it with a fresh one, all that stuff (I don't know if this is till teh case but both my KS posts came with a really crappy cheap cable, I fitted shimano cables straight out of the box)

I would invest in a new cable - Northwind is spot on the original cable is a bit shite. I have also fitted shimano cable and outer and had no problems. Not breaking the bank either.

Watch out though - I did once use a cheapy inner cable - the nipple was a funny size and got stuck in the lever.

+1 for posh Shimano outer & inner.  Nice and slippy.

I buy new lined outer (Jagwire) by the 10m and bulk buy new Teflon inners for about £2 each.  Used for gears and dropper.

The Shimano inners with the new green are definitely longer lasting but a lot more expensive and regardless the wear tends to be around a couple of places on tight bends rather than the whole cable.

I'll flush the inner out with some GT84 or similar... and put in a new inner with some light grease on the cable and a dab of heavy military grease in the ferrule.

I tend to change these whenever is convenient as opposed to waiting as it keeps the bikes feeling like new and just changing the inner takes 5 mins vs 10-15 for an internally routed outer (then 12-18 hours assign about with the rubber seals 🙁 )
