Just wondering if people drive there cars to and from riding with the same shoes on or take a spare pair. I have some MP66's and forgot to take them off after the ride started the car and drove off only to slip off the cluch pedal and have to pull over to change shoes.

What do other people do

I clip in to the accelerator pedal and go.

Well, I did before the ban.

I drive with SPDs quite a lot without a problem. Don't see why you would slip if you have rubber pedal covers on your clutch, brake and throttle.

Always take other shoes - mainly in case my riding ones get really crappy while riding.
I suspect that my 'trail' type spds (Shimano something or another) would be fine to drive in though, whereas my proper Pearl Izumi spds would most definitely be a liability!

I forget sensible shoes all the time and have really silly studded SPD shoes. Most journeys are conducted in a haze of clutch smoke. Not cool.

Naah, just doesnt feel right or safe to me. Too little flex in the sole and rubber too stiff to grip pedals properly.
Trainers every time.

If you slipped off I'd increase the spring tension

surely not? I find the cleats catch rather than slip. Only time i was ever caught out without any alternative footwear I drove barefoot as a safer option.

I had to drive a mate to hospital after he broke his collarbone on a ride. I was wearing SPD whoes and combined with having to drive his van it was a nightmare with cleat taking away any pedal feel.

Carbon soles + studs work perfectly with the auto-box!

glass half full alert! (plus vague memories of specialist films)

rephrase "what is best thing that could happen"

Always change from my ones for the drive home.
Isn`t impossible to drive with them just uncomfortable tbh.
