[#1790746]

I've bought a road bike and commuted into work on it this morning. God forgive me and help me develop my scowl.

Anyone got any Immac ?

My daughter just phoned from New Zealand, I told her I was thinking of getting a road bike and she hung up on me ๐Ÿ˜†

Make sure you develop the art of acknowledging fellow roadies by raising you little finger 3mm from the bars

I daren't for fear of losing control of the god forsaken machine.

Think I'm going to whip those drop bars off and get some cow horns on there.

I hopped on my old 1998 Giant TCR2 the other day & nearly fell off just pootling up the road to test the gears. Those skinny bikes are so...wobbly.

Be carful, you might get fit and be able to ride up hill without having to push!

Just ignore everyone else on the road even if they acknowledge you, wear full team kit, shave you legs and go on about "Peformance" and you'll be there my son ๐Ÿ˜‰

You may find the stem is on upside down - I've noticed it's a common error with road bikes

I've flipped mine over ๐Ÿ™‚

Good man! Now head over to Dartmeet and see how you get on ๐Ÿ˜‰

So we'll be taking road bikes in November then?

You think that's bad, I bought a skinny-tyres folding bike last week. The worst of it is that it's really nippy and {whispers} quite enjoyable to ride.

I should be horsewhipped......

I'm perfectly happy to hurtle down a Spanish mountain side but no way am I crazy enough to contemplate riding a push bike on their roads ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Roads out near Mark are completely free of traffic and so smooth you'll realise where carbon fiber and skinny tyres are really at home, not on the sh*t that passes for a road surface here.

Nah, I'm not that unhinged! I've done the full classic twice though and ridden Col De Dartmeet a few times. Had to walk it once ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I very much doubt I'll ever try the Cornwall Tor again, that was horrible.

Shaving your legs shows a distinct lack of commitment; get them waxed and have it done properly!

When I commuted on a tri-athlon bike I rocked the bin man look. High vis jacket with biffa written on the back and trousers, piss pot helmet. I never got a finger raised at me by other roadies, they just tried to ingnore me when I went past them, haha.
