are they worth the extra? an (older style) XTR triple (or a new model) XT costs the same as an SLX double. need a new front mech, and not sure what to go with (22/36)

I recently changed my triple SLX mech to a double one and I get less chain rub in extreme combos (I guess there's still some debate if you can go big/big & small/small in a 2x9 but it works OK for me...). The cage is a bit shorter to (although on my frame the triple didn't get that close to the tyre anyway) and it's supposedly angled differently to better cope with the larger tooth jump (22-36) but the triple mech seemed to handle it OK to. I wouldn't specifically change to a double again but if you need a mech anyway I think you may as well.
