So, my 'love affair' with Pro2 hubs marches on. Fitted some new bearings in the front wheel of Mrs PPs Kona and found this when I'd done:

Yes, I'll probably get a new shell for free, but I really am sick to death of the bloody things now, I really am.

You really do have some poor luck with Hope hubs Pete, I've been using them for years, faultless.

I'm sure they will sort you out.

I asked a bloke on the Hope stand at the Cycle Show why they'd done away with the fantastic XC hub design. He looked frightened and claimed not to know owt.

They were better. Better bearings, and Ti freehub which was light but din't get chewed up by cassettes.

Can I have that KHS frame please?

KT, that's on Mrs PPs Kona King Kikapu. It's 3 years old but hardly gets ridden. It's still on every other original part and I only changed the first set of brake pads a few months ago. Drivetrain, all the pivots, cables etc, all perfect and as I built it. Those blasted hubs have given more grief and cost more money than the rest of the bike put together.

I'm just fitting the 3rd or 4th (I forget) set of wheel bearings and now this. Not chuffed at all.

Elfin, you know I agree that XCs are better. But they're not perfect: 3 broken axles and that one I gave you was buggered!
But at least the bearings last......

The KHS is not really for sale. It's waiting for a rainy day. (I found it) Probably too big for you to be fair......

I just rang Hope and as I, err, hoped they will replace the shell and rebuild the wheel for me.

To be absolutely fair it's impossible to fault Hope for customer service, but I do get a bit sick of using it! ๐Ÿ˜‰
