Hi guy's, i have a 2010 orange five frame with the fox rp23 boost valve shock. Last time i went to ride the bike i noticed a horrendous squelching/suction noise when compressing the rear shock and letting it rebound. Could this be something to do with the cold winter weather affecting the il in the damper or is there likely to be something wrong?
I have spoken to mojo and they said send it back and we will sort it out but obviously i don't want to if this is normal and something experienced by everyone?
Hugh
Sounds like its cavitated, which would be fixed under warranty. Cold weather would nt cause it.
Nope never...I'm an all weather rider and I have had half a dozen or so Fox shock variations rp23/rp2/vx/drcv shocks and none of them have made a sound.
I would deffo recommend sending it to Mojo (as they advise)....as much of a pain as it is likely going to be, you'll know its not going to let you down 10 miles into a ride. ๐
my RP23 squelches a bit in cold weather, seems to stop after a while (once it warms up I guess)
Well sent it back to mojo and got it back pretty quickly. Service formed said re-oiled and re-gassed, back onto the bike and it's still doing it! Think i'll have to send it back again!
Send it back mate ASAP
My 2010 rp23 on the st4 makes the same noise
does the squeaking from either of your shocks change in tone depending on which position you have the propedal lever in? soft, med, hard?
LoCo, i'll try that today and let you know.
Making the noise at the very start of the stroke ? If so it'll be float fluid passing through the port on the air sleeve, nothing to worry about
I'm getting the same squelchy noise from my 2010 Boost Valve RP23 shock. Seems to be worse at the start of a ride and then stops once the shock has had a bit of use. Shock seems to be working perfectly in all of the settings though.
well it does it in all pro pedal setings. Will hopefully get a good ride in soon and i'll see what it does!

My RP3 squelches sometimes if I have changed from full PP to medium. If i knock it down to low them back to medium its fine. But it probably does need a service as its getting old now.
