As title, i'm looking for a new wheelset for my Giant Reign X!.
They need to be able to take some serious abuse but deffinately not downhill duties just Welsh trail centres and light freeriding.
I had the Halo freedoms on my last bike and they were great but I want something as good but with pro 2 hubs.
Does anyone ride with the EN521's and if so how are they on abuse, weight, quality etc?
Also do they compete with the freedoms as they get rave reviews but i'm now a little suspect of the spin doctor hubs after hearing a few horror stories but on the other hand they have changed for 2009 and are meant to be better??
So basically should I buy Halo Freedom pro's or the EN521's on Hope Pro 2's???
Help please
Has nobody got them then? 🙁
Built some recently for a customer, he's very happy with them and they built up beautifully, very true and evenly tensioned, far better than any Halo kit i've built(or had to rebuild properly).
pimpmyride the forks came through and their fine
thanks
tom
unless you are a massive biffer, clumsy as ****, run silly low pressures or land sideways off all your freeride-light hucks and stunts they should be absolutely fine for your riding.
I'd choose them over the Halos if it matters to you what others think
I have these on my hardtail and Im quite happy with them. I would definately go for them over the Halo wheels, I had a set years ago and found them to dent very easily.
I've got one on an Alfine and it's had some abuse but it's been fine. Before I made it tubeless, i used to pinch a lot so due to my impatience it ran flat for a while but it's still perfect!
Thanks guys, the Halo's get mint reviews though but for £20 more I get Pro 2 hubs!
Taka no probs mate 🙂
I have Pro2 with EN521 on my Five and they take plenty of hammering (mainly Surrey Hills but this includes some light jumping + Peaks and Lakes). I'm not a heavy rider (80kg) but they've been rock solid for the last 6 months... happy enough with them to get the same again for my hardtail
you can buy the freedoms as rims only... alternatively, have a look at some of the spank and sun rims, or mavic xm...'s.
