Good training for the 3 peaks, essentially a carry from Glossop to the top.

I like it, but I know some who don't.

It's pretty technical, and can be boggy in the middle, but well worth a go (maybe not at the moment!). There's a fair bit of nice singletrack in a great situation, and of course it provides a good link over the hill.

As a descent:
Top half is a super-technical rocky bouldery descent, a lot of it unrideable unless you're a trials god. Some bits doable, some bits with very high penalty for failure. Eases out a bit in the middle and becomes a bit more grassy/rocky. Parts of it is actually quite nice singletrack. Bottom third will be a total quagmire at the moment.

It's worth doing once just so you've done it but frankly it's one hell of a trek to get up there (road climb up Snake Pass) for a descent which is about 75% rideable at best and after all this wet weather, I'd be surprised if it's even 50% rideable.

It's not what you'd call 'flowy', well certainly not for me anyway.

I agree with crazy legs. Not all ridable. Might be okay on a good loop but It's so out of the way that for me, It's not worth the effort. Do it on a nice day just to tick it off the list. After that, I'd put money on the fact that you'd be happy to leave it alone for a good few years at least.

It's a nice run... And as this is STW, can I just say that you should be shot if you're considering venturing out in anything other than perfect, dry conditions. There are plenty of other things you could be doing instead of damaging fragile local trails which belong to me. Crochet, for example. And croquet. And darts. I wish people wouldn't start these threads about riding, it's wreaking havoc with my blood pressure etc... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, and and it's also a pig to get to and from riding legally - you need to ride a big chunk of the A57, though obviously there are alternatives, slabby ones. I could show you better on this side of the Peak. And the bottom half will, as James says, be a complete morasse right now.

I agree with the above, worth doing once but no flow.

I did it last year as part of the Glossop loop back over Cutgate etc. Long trudge up A57 not much fun.
