...or do you go commando?
Thin socks in summer
Merino socks in winter
Don't like no socks as feet get really dirty!
What? No socks is just crazy talk.
No way, my shoes would be rank after one ride! 😮
I use thin trainer socks in the spring and sealskins for the other three seasons! 🙄
no socks. it's the way forward.
Woolie Boolies or Porelle Drys in winter, mind.
Trainer socks or Endura socks (£10 for three pairs) in the summer. Two important things:
1) cut down on abrasion damage to yer feet.
2) stop your shoes from smelling even worse than they do now, as there's less dead skin stuck inside them after rides.
Try not wearing socks in your day-to-day shoes, and you'll get a feel for how uncomfortable no socks can be on an all-day ride.
Damn I know I need them... i'm just pathetically trying to justfy whether I need to go up another size in my recently purchased SIDI shoes...
The Enduras are probably worth a try, then. Nice and thin, seem to be hard wearing.
If you've recently bought Sidis, bear in mind that new bike shoes do stretch a little in the first couple of hundred miles or so anyway.

Do they really or are you just being nice?
I wear fishnets
They do stretch a bit, really - tho' more around the instep (ratchet) fastening area. I picked up some off a forum member some years back who'd got 'em the wrong size - I still haven't needed to wear 'em yet, but trying 'em on recently they felt a *little* short - but they're almost exactly the same as my current pair, and next size up would eventually stretch too much for the ratchet to work I suspect. My very first pair of Sidis - early 90's - got to the point of feeling like a pair of slippers 😉
If they feel a bit short - rather then generally tight - make sure you've cut yer toenails 😉
If it's a bit tight across the toes you could try a shoe stretcher mebbe ?
I guess just get the thinnest socks you can find (silk?)
Or just wear 'em for a while barefoot and see how you get on - but I guess if you were thinking about returning/relling them you might not want to. They don't *seem* to suffer like trainers do for getting smelly, mebbe the lorica breathes somewhat better 'cos it's more leather-like (and I always use socks)- YMMV.
I wear socks until I need a poo and don't have any tissues.

Only triathalopes wear no socks, get a grip man!! 😳
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.................
>I wear socks until I need a poo and don't have any tissues
I'm sorry, I have to ask.
Is that to poo *into*, or for wiping with?
Or a bit of both ?
I generally wear socks as I get athletes foot more likely.
TBH i doubt not wearing socks would make my shoes smell more than riding through puddles of stagnant muddy water thats lying around at the moment
Can't wear those shortie stocking things that girls wear? 😉
can't remember what they're called
Pooing into? That's absurd, not to mention disgusting. Hang your head...
Well, you started it, can't imagine wiping with my own socks.
Mebbe someone else's tho' 😉
Due to medical condition a friend of friend only ever poos rusty water.
He's always off with his socks behind a tree.
Anyway back on topic.
Where the hell can I try on a pair of 45.5 mega Sidi shoes near London
Of course. Sealskins as well in winter and poncy trainer sox with shorts in summer to avoid tan lines
I like socks.
Always wear socks. sealskins when it's wet and just normal sports socks when its dry - not bothered 'bout tan lines - get them on arms and the top of my legs anyway so who cares about another set at the ankle.

Pop socks, how can something so nearly fantastic be so 'orrible 👿
IMO a good pair of cycling socks is up there on my "must have list".
I ride either with a pair of Defeet Wooly Boolies or Sock Guy merino. Sure, £12 for a pair of socks is expensive but well worth it. The thing with merino is it will keep your feet warm in winter and cool in summer.
ground effect socks come in two weights of merino with polyester outers for durability. i'd challenge anyone to find better socks anywhere in the world.
be advised that their trainer socks are not merino, however.
oh yeah - socks help stop sh1te falling into your shoes/boots too.
ps i wear mine until i need a w**k 😉

No its not, its fantastic.
You can hang the poo-filled socks from your bars and flick them at offending car drivers........or walkers..........or your wife (if looking for a divorce).........or your boss (if looking for the sack).........etc, etc
As above, no socks for tri IMO. Thin for dry rides and sealskins for wet. have sidis in 42 for dry and 43 for wet days tho i find i can adjust the 43s for thin socks if needs be
Merino all the way. Seal skins for winter, with Merino.
popsocks!!!!
The only piece of women's clothing (nay, underwear) that actually is worse for being just slightly smaller / shorter than its nearest relative.
Short skirts >>>>> long skirts
popsocks <<< overknee socks <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< hold-ups
brief briefs >>>>>>> granny pants
etc.
Any STW ladies on here admit to wearing them, AND being under 70?
Because you should be SHOT if you do.
