Definitely a hyena, no mistaking that. It looks to have been really arid around Bristol.

Hyaena do make a strange whooping noise, and do run in the strange way that the article describes. So the description sounds accurate, but he could have got that from a nature documentary.

I'd be avoiding the area on the off chance though, cos hyaena are *nasty*.
