Elixirs and juicies were swappable on the bars, between the correct way round, and left-hand drive way round.
are the newer Sram brakes still like this?

As you have found,I believe it's a yes. Certainly on the Guides I've used anyway.

Yes. The levers are ambidextrous and can be mounted on either side. The only difference between left and right is the length of the hose.
