Just bought some new Panaracer tyres. Apparently they are made by Panasonic PolyTechnologies.
Seems a very odd product for a consumer electronics company to be making
Prob a bit like Mitsubishi who make ANYTHING from cars to electronics.
Yamaha - motorcycles and pianos
Nothing odd about it, it's a corporation check out GE, Proctor and Gamble well the list goes on really.
You'll be suggesting Shimano make fishing kit next
and tennis racquets
What the **** is one of the chuckle brothers doing with that bike?
Blimey the rear triangle on that thing looks really long!
Most of them make components for bombs and missiles too
Yamaha - motorcycles and pianos
Apparently Yamaha use harmonics technology from their "piano" division to help tune the inlet and outlet flows from theire bike engines
Well I did know Mitsubishi made F-15s, and Subaru (Fuji Heavy Industries) make buildings and ships as well as cars.
Maybe Pansonic are using tyre technology to make extra grippy button for their TV remotes!
It's funny that you posted this question. I didn't know that panaracer was owned by panasonic until I received some panaracer flat away tape in the post yesterday and it said panasonic on the top right hand corner of the box. Nothing odd about it but you would think in 20 years of mountain biking I would have known that by now.

Someone will no doubt correctly but I've also used Panarace tyres for lots of years and its only recently that I can remember seeing a Panasonic logo on the packaging
Fox also make lovely biscuits
And glacier mints

Well the company symbol is a trio of tuning forks so it's not a surpirse that they make musical insturments. They also make my saxophone. Yamaha musical insturments are, or at least were, considered to be pretty good.
Fox also make lovely biscuits
And Ladies.
My acoustic guitar is a Yamaha. I preferred my RD350LC though.
I commented on having bought Panasonic innertubes a few weeks ago. I wonder if they will work with my TV as well as the camera does.
Hitachi make tv's + power tools + bullet trains........ and carbide end mills which is what I flog
The boring answer is....
Japanese Companies are Vertically Structured.
I.e. they try to own the whole supply chain - they own the companies who make the bits and bobs that are assembled to make the products they are actually well known for.
Cars for example - there will be Toyota Steel Company, Toyota Aluminium Company, Toyota Rubber Company etc. Probably.
So don't be surprised.

Someone (Podge I think) told me at the weekend that Nokia make Nokian tyres
