I have a very nice gun metal mk1 Switchback frame here that's possibly spare.

Wasn't there a Brant update on here fairly recently that had a 'back to basics' steel frame in development?

I just searched & found this rather extensive list on the On One website...

I'd register a solitary vote for a MASSIVE size, but I've got too many bikes again so I'm an unlikely customer anyway. Unless it's a singlespeedable gravellable type of thing. Maybe.

Brant..... Is that slack longish 29 hardtail mentioned a while back still going ahead?

No idea what it was called, or if it had a name.

It's called Big Dog. It's in production.

Great stuff..... When is it due? Before I buy something else....

And any chance you'll be doing a raw finish?

Will it take 140mm fork and 650b+?

If you must. I’ll check rear clearance. It’s pretty gappy.

Confused ... Is the Big Dog steel or alu?

Seem to recall some teasers of a slack alu frame which was possibly a descendant of the Scandal ... Is that now the Big Dog? Or is it something else in the pipeline?

Believe they’re planning new aluminium (scandal replacement) and steel offerings.

Big Dog = Steel
Scandal = Aluminium

Do a Little Dog 26/650B version

This'd be good, with rack mounts for those of us who want an actual Do Everything bike but aren't gigantic please. A 'hardcore' hardtail should be able to be toured with a rack and panniers on it as well as chucking it down a hill when you get there (luggage off, obvs).

WTF's that?

edit- I saw the Big Dog has rack mounts but I'm not enormous and don't like 29" wheels, hence my support for the Little Dog idea...

i'd buy one of those @brant - just after a bike with no suspension at all, but would enable me to do XC easily. Preferably steel...

15/ ON HOLD ::: Classic 26 Inch Inbred - The original with only minor tweaks for modern components

on hold... 🙁

I want an XS/13 inbred with tapered head tube so I can build a bike for my kids with all the spare parts I have lying around

Has anyone else noticed that since brant returned theres a bit nore love for planet x and on one, on here? Or is that just me?

Raw, 29er, scandal alliminium frame, big tyre clearances, proper bb, etc for a target £150 give or take. If they get the quality control right this time with no mistakes with some good customer service then im sure they will win some of the stw hardliners over.

🤔

... and stop selling loads of cheap tat. Go back to having a lean range of bikes, frames and essential geeky bits. Leave the headsets and bearings and so on to the ‘bay or LBS.

But also name one of the bikes the Big Fat Dog.

Is there going to be a 27.5 inbred or something similar?

No surprise really, the things that put people off On One/PX so much happened when he wasn't there- and crap like what happened to me wouldn't have happened on his watch. No need to make assumptions on character etc, he just knows it's bad business.

Sad to see there's no kaffenback update with larger clearances and either swappable dropouts or horizontal forward facing ones so you can run singlespeed, hub gears or a derailleur.

Most of that coming. Not sure about slotty slidey things really. A lot of fuss and expense and a failure point for something less than 1% of people actually used.

Not too fussed about the swappable aspect to be honest, what I'm really after is horizontal dropouts or track ends and disc mounts to run Alfine or singlespeed, with 45mm clearance. Ideally in 853 🙂

I think you just dropped from 1% to less than half that. But hey, we like odd bikes.

Don't On-One make any singlespeeds any more?

I'd like something like a new Pompino/Pompetamine. ie fixed gear, discs, bigger tyre clearance. Not too bothered if alu or steel, so long as not too heavy.

brant

....for something less than 1% of people actually used.

But that 1% really really wanted it and couldn't get it elsewhere at anywhere near your price.

Plus, once you'd thickened up the tensioners all the problems went away IME.

There's Rohloffs, and Alfines, not just singlespeeders who benefit from that.

If it had sliders I'd have never replaced my Scandal as my main bike with a bike from a rival firm (TD-1 🙂 ).

The big advantage of sliders (or EBB) over track ends is for people who have to remove the wheels to transport the bike. Getting the rear wheel accurate in the Scandal with proper disk alignment is a lot more faff than just popping a wheel back in to a slider.

And the Pompino needs to be able to take a 2" Big Apple to future proof it, and sliders, but keep the HA, ie no fashionable 1930s slack HAs.
