[#6803332]

After 30 years I'm now so inept, I can't even fit tyres.
Imagine the drop in mood since this morning, when my arch ex hoops arrived, and now, having failed to fit both maxxis and schwalbe tyres.
Your helpful insults if you please.

I found Schwalbe a huge struggle to fit to Crest rims. I still haev the offending tyre.

Continental went on without any issues.

Even more frustrating is that I've had them on flow ex's

You need one of these. On and off in seconds and no broken nails, can even get it in the backpack

I'm glad its not just me. There was a lot of swearing trying to get those *ing *ing things on!!! In fact, thinking back, I snapped 2 Park Tools tyre levers 😳

Now that the stickers are chipped, my PT levers mullered, knuckles bleeding and thumbs snapped. I suppose the solution has to be spending more money.
A lever sounds like a good idea but I bet I'd be chasing it round and round all day.

Stans are tubeless rims, I ran crests with tubes and it was a nightmare. Tubeless tyres went on no problem.

Try changing the rim tape to stans yellow and make sure you are pushing the bead into the centre channel.

^This. Bilingual, or even tri-lingual swearing FTW. That and a decent compressor.

(I use Greek as my second curse language, but I am certain Polish would do very nicely.)

Malaka is the only Greek I know. I'll try that and see if it helps

My Maxxis Ardent and Spesh Purgatory were very lose on my Arch Ex rim (26'' and 29''). I actually took them off and put extra tape on.

Although I'm kinda in agreement.
What I've discovered is that the folding kenda SB8s go on, and with tubes, and the nobby nics and maxxis fit nice on the old 717s and flow ex's.
I must have missed the bit about 'don't bother using cheap/old school tyres on stans rims'.
Anyone interested in 3 new highroller supertackys 26x2,4? £50 posted?
