Morning All
I've got a bit of a dilemma: I'm the market for some new RS Sid's (29", 2018 model with the new Charger Damper). I've got the option of the standard RL or the RLC (with the low speed compression dial). Even with my BC discount at CRC there's still a ~£130 difference in price. From what I understand, the low speed compression allows you to tune out pedal bob and brake dive. I'm a pretty light rider (~67kg) though plus I'll be buying both forks with the OneLoc remote which will eliminate pedal bob when I'm climbing anyway.
My question is, is it worth it/getting?
Thanks
The RLs will have compression damping, it just won't be (externally) adjustable. Unless you are are real set-up fiend or knob twiddler, I wouldn't bother with the RLCs for XC forks as you have the lock-out anyway.

Goes the theory, IME it's not the case though. For a big fork on a big bike yep makes sense to me as the bike tends to need more support and take bigger hits when you really do want the suspension active. Loss of slower bump compliance is a trade I'd make - i wouldn't have taken it off my 36s.
I've an rct3 on my sids and, by the time I've wound the lsc to prevent brake dive and pedal bob it may as well be locked out under pedaling. Most trail chatter and small knocks don't activate the fork so it doesn't track as well and i find it less comfortable to ride. The sorts of trails I'm riding that bike on have a lot more continuous noise like baby heads that your pedaling through and such compared to the big bike, but a lot less big walloping stuff. The bike is stiff and well supported by the fork as is in mid setting, when i don't want bob i lockout.
YMMV of course but ultimately i find the LSC can't tell the difference between things I'm pedaling through and actual pedaling, its very good at telling the difference between pedaling and plummeting.
Thanks for your input guys. I order the standard RL in the end and they arrived yesterday. Many thanks!
