Mine has!

My three year old RP23 has just developed a knock that's getting steadily worse. It seems to happen as the piston changes direction as it starts the rebound and isn't dependant on the length of the stroke.

I've just stripped it down, cleaned it, changed the seals and given it a slight lube; but the bugger is still knocking.

Using the power of google I know the problem is fairly common, but haven't spotted anything that says what the cause is or how to cure it.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Has it had a proper, full, service in the last 3 years? If not, that could be the problem.
Or, it could just be knackered bushings.

Could be the screw coming off the end of the damper rod - that'll be a fun ride if it goes completely ๐Ÿ™‚

What else would they do in a full service?

I might whip it out again tomorrow and see if I can see that screw though.

You do realise the damper needs serviced too? Sounds like you've just done a simple air can service. You won't be able to service the damper yourself unless you have the tools, skills and a supply of nitrogen

Ah.

No I didn't know. It was the first time I'd had a crack at a shock.
