I'm building up a dj/4x/mess around bike having recently moved to Sheff and have no idea what gear ratios to use. I've got some xt crank arms to attach the front ring to. I like to push a harder gear when getting up to speed rather than spinning more. Any advice? Cheers

Start with the equivalent of the BMX classic 44/16 (for 20" wheels) and vary it depending on how much is flat and how much is downhill.

I run 32 - 16 , 26 inch wheels. It's pretty light mind so some like 34-16

Classic BMX gear inches would be 55", so try 32/15 or 34/16 on 26", or a 36/16 or 34/15 on a 24" wheel.
