Meths, IPA or something like that

Then again, a scrub with hot soapy water will do the trick too

I use spray on disc brake cleaner for cars from (cough) Halfords.
Works well.

Uplink: - I can see how meths might work but not Indian Pale Ale, bit of a waste as well

IPA (isopropyl alcohol here in case uplink *meant* the booze ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ) worked for me to stop a nasty case of squealing the other day...

is there anyway of cleaning up the pads? A mate reckons soak them in meths then set them alight and let them burn themselves out and hat should do the trick?

i usually heat the rotors by riding with the brakes slightly on for a minute or two then throw cold water over them. seems to work. got the hint off a motocross buddy.

When I

ve used hot water with a little detergent to thoroughly wash my discs and then dried with a clean cloth or paper towel.Sanded pads with light wet or dry, until dirty deposits are no longer seen on the paper. Then replace and do some hard stops until they generate some heat.Worked for me!
