Headed down to Glentress today aware of various closures for forestry activity. Decided on the black route as a lot of fun bits of the red/blue are amongst the sections affected.
The diversion descent on the black is among some of the best riding I've done down there in years! Takes you down to the start of Redemption climb on an old walkers trail. Steepish, big trees, through flat drifty corners, seemed to last forever. Brilliant stuff...you cant miss it if you head round the black, big yellow chevron signage....if you go down GT try and fit this ride in before they remove the diversion, well worth traipsing around the black for, well done the FC.
Carry on...
Thanks for that - will make sure I ride the black in the next few weeks. Might have avoided it otherwise given the grim description on the 7stanes website.
The diverted section is excellent and I have ridden it a few times before the the recent forestry work, however its not in the same league as deliverance imo.
MussEd - please please remove this. ๐ It's a great bit of trail and has claimed three broken ribs for me in the past.
As an aside, on the way over to it if you look upto the left you will see old bits of trail that are no longer used.
