Well not so much discoloured as I had done the Epic bleeding kit instructions and there were small "bits' in the darker replaced fluid. The brakes are nearly three years old. This was just the rear brake BTW, the front seems OK.

Time to get a new set or persist with these?

Do they still work?
I've bled brakes and the old fluid looked like flat coke......

Yes. Quite a bit of lever travel before they begin to bite whereas the front brake starts to bite in half the travel. I'm doing the HT550 at the end of May so want things "right"

I've had dark particles in brake fluid before. Assume it's just bits of seal deteriorating. If they still work fine then no bother.

I flushed until the dark bits stopped coming out. Having a litre of shimano fluid helped not to worry about pushing three syringes through.

I've got some spare fluid so I'll give it another flush through. The bike's going to have a full strip down and rebuild shortly as it's had minimal lurve for its three years' riding.

Seals are on their way out. If you are doing the 550 time for a new caliper IMO
