[#2139692]

I'm sure I should know this but aren't 100% sure.

I have a bike for which I am getting a second wheelset, if I am going to swap the wheels over depending on the riding I am doing I'll need a second set of rotors. Do I have to get the right rotors for the brake calipers (ie Avid) or can I get any rotors as long as they are that size (203mm)?

If I can get any Rotor of that size - any recommendations? It's for a Juicy 3 caliper, but hopefully I'll be upgrading in 3-4month to Hope as I love buying British ๐Ÿ™‚ .

as long as the rotor is the right size then all you need to worry about is the depth of the braking surface.

are they the same hubs??

I found changing wheels with different hubs meant having to re-align the caliper slightly

Carl is right. I put my rear wheel with 160mm rotors into my race bike with Formula R1s and it worked perfectly. Put it into the HT with Hope C2s and the rivet-bit (insert correct technical term here) that joins spider and braking surface on a floating rotor was catching on the caliper, wasn't a problem with the solid rotor.

Martyn - interesting thought - no they're not. Will bear that in mind.

Any will do, use normal rotors as opposed to floaters and you'll be fine. Even if you have to realign your calipers with post mount brakes that is a 60 second job.

You cam buy rotors shims so you don't have to keep re-aligning the caliper between different wheelsets.

hope floaters- the rivet- will catch the caliper of avids
You can fix this with an angle grinder to the caliper if you are that way inclined without affecting performance
I dont have to realign when changing wheels
