A pal of mine has an autistic daughter than she wants to get a side by side bike for.  It really needs to be electric assist..  It also needs to be side by side due to the nature of her disabilities

I have found this https://www.vanraam.com/en-gb/our-bikes/side-by-side-tandems/fun2go but its very expensive. By the time you get it imported and add electric its £10 000 ish!  components look fairly basic as well

does anyone know of anything else?  I can add an electric kit to most bikes i would have thought.  I can't find anythig else in the UK

ta chaps

Well out of my depth with all this, but these folk are based in York and supply some Van Raam bikes - https://www.getcycling.org.uk/tandems/

https://www.getcycling.org.uk/products/van-raam-fun2go/ also has an electric assist option, but as you say, they're not cheap. Might be worth having a chat with them though.

https://www.specialbikesuk.com/side-by-side-1 - no price here (I suspect that it'll be similar).

Charlotte's Tandems has a lot of links and advice.

Also is a recumbent passenger tandem (Circe Morpheus or Hass Pino) a possibility for your pal? Pilot and stoker can then communicate easily, pilot can see stoker, stoker freewheel is possible and a bit easier to garage, transport etc. May not work but an idea.

Side by side - so I’m assuming you can’t do a std bike + bolt on (tongsheng etc) + trailer bike on back.

Sidecar - are they legal, if so std bike + tongshen etc + sidecar…… ???

https://vansprint.co.uk/electric-fat-bike-side-car-250w-green

And there seem to be more and more ‘Dutch cargo/bus bikes” about could anything like that act as a base.
