I love the fact that there was nothing wrong with the stem- the guy just wanted it to be shorter!

He can do that but can't cut his steerer tube????

I ride with him. He's quite a tinkerer.

Let's not forget that entire frames are welded up, often not as tidily as that.

What's the problem? Looks like better welding than you'll see on a lot of mass produced alu frames.
