Is the boxxer mount the same as the 40 mount? Looks like it is.
What do people recommend?
Given the low profile of this stem, seems I would have to cut my steerer tube down quite a bit, though as Im thinking of changing frames next year dont really want to cut it too low...
My point is, can you use spacers with these direct mount stems (above the stem obviously!)

Yes, the Boxxer stem will fit.
As for recommendation, it depends on how much money you are prepared to spend. Quite nice stems start at around 60quid - Sunline, but if you really want to pimp your bike, get in touch with twenty6 guys in the US - they make some awesome looking and superlight direct mount stems.
Yes, you can use some spacers with these stems so that should protect your investment in Fox 40s should you decide to change the frame next year.

Yeah you can keep your spacers. The Point One Racing stem is awesomely light at only 129g! The Hope Direct Mount Stem should be out soon and they look awesome! Other popular ones are availible from Sunline, E13, SIC and Funn, plus theres plenty others avaible.
