Hi Gang. I've seen a 2nd hand PA for sale near me.... £600. What are they like and what Type of riding are they suitable for?

I bought one two weeks ago, love it already after just two rides. I have mine built up with 140 Floats and wide bars, handling is pretty sharp and feels planted. Bit heavier than I thought it would be but hoping that weight means it will take a few clumbsy lines!

Have had one for a month or 2 (725 tubing). Have 130 Revs on it. Feels very planted and climbs well. I'm 6' and have a large 19" nice and long. I do fairly rough XC and trail stuff - not a jumper. Mike at Dialled recommended a large for that style of riding - if I was more hardcore and jumpy he said I should take the size down. As for weight - my riding buddy has a Medium Soul with blinger parts and much to his surprise there wasn't all that much in it.

Nice bikes!

Do you know how old it is?

Medium frame for me with 140 Floats - riding in the North Lakes. Tough frame (although I did manage to break my old one), great customer service from Dialled as well.

I had one. It was totally fantastic.

If they made a 29er version, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat...

I had one a while back too, lovely bike in a similar build to the one above (but in orange!)
I used it for trail centres and most stuff really, quite a tough frame which inspired confidence and never felt overly fazed. I had 140mm fox forks too.
A good solid all round bike I'd say.

Great bikes, had a 19.5" (6'3" tall) Mk1, good allrounder, was run with 140mm Vanilla forks, ust and xt kit which made a reasonable light tough build, will get another when feel the need for another LT Hardtail if I don't get a 29er

I had a Mk1 which was horrible. Very heavy and the BB was so high and the front end so low even with 150mm bombers on a 19" (and I'm just under 6') Very strong though!

The one in the ad is not a MK1, but I don't know how much it changed for each new version.

Looks like a mk.2 to me, probably a 19" (without reading the spec).

Just sold my 17.5" frame (same as above) yesterday for £110. It was a bit scratched up, but I'd pay no more than £150 for a mint mk.2.

The mk.3 is lighter and it's what I wanted to replace my old mk.2 with - I really liked it. My only negative comment is the front is a little too stiff, which seems to have been sorted with a slimmer toptube on the mk.3.

Overall I loved it and would buy another in a heartbeat.

Offer him £500. 😉

Out of interest previous owners, how much can they take; would a two/three foot drop kill me/it?

Its a steel frame that weighs over 5lbs. It could handle a 25 foot double provided you can land properly.

It = unlikely, unless you're built like a Hind gunship.

You = never met you, so can't really comment. 😉

here's mine:

MOD: Image removed due to malware

I don't think it's going to break anytime soon; I ride XC and trail centres (Innerleithen\Glentress) but they're XC right?

Before Mike did the Holeshot some of his team / mates used to race 4X on small PAs. THere was A guy called (IIRC) Paddy who's, in the nicest possible way, a big chap. PA's are pretty bombproof.

I had a Mk1 (complete with dinky tube behind the HT) and it was great. Didn't find the HA too bad at all and liked it so much that hunted down a ti version (Morning Glory). PA's are lovely bikes IMO.

Me obviously, and apart from it being steel and orange, the name clinched it 8) 😆

Makes for funny conversations and looks in the office...

On a recent beach bivvy excursion - use mine for everything: touring, 'big days out', playing in the woods and the odd little jump/drop or two.

Medium frame, Floats, Shimano/Sram mix'n'match drivetrain, Hope am4 wheels, tech x2 brakes now into it's second year and been faultless and lots of fun 😀

Nice bunch of drift-wood there in the background. What beach is that?

Near Yarmouth, IoW - resisted the temptation to make a driftwood bonfire as the location was a bit cheeky 😉
