I noticed a post about a Prince Albert, and it brought to mind my own Kobe Ti, which is one of the most responsive exciting bikes that I've ever had. Riding it always puts a smile on my face; it's not really up to high speed downhill stuff, but for tight singletrack it's perfect. In some ways it's an odd concept, with an overbuilt Ti frame that is impressively light, but lacks the compliance that can be achieved with a more slender Ti build. Nonetheless, it's a lot less harsh than a comparable alloy frame, so perhaps something of the properties of the Ti do affect the feel of the bike. The wheelbase looks short by modern standards, but fitted with 150mm forks it is incredibly responsive without being twitchy. The effective TT is also quite short, and with the low overall weight and the short wheelbase, small changes in rider position are immediately noticeable in the way that the bike handles; so you soon know if you're getting a bit tired and ragged.
In short, it looks nice, it rides well and I like it.
Hardly ever see them about nowadays; I wondered if anyone else on here still has one and still enjoys riding theirs?
theres one on the classifieds for sale at the moment...
I'd be surprised if many people know what a Kobe Ti is. There were so few of them (only 40 in total). And it took me bloody ages to sell them all.
8 or 9 years ago since I designed the Kobe. How time flies!
Probably the most fun mountain bike I recall owning/riding.
Most fun bike I have owned. Bought secondhand last year and currently ragging it around the Surrey Hills. Get lots of admiring glances ๐
