Alright folks,
just got meself a new Alpine frame, and as pretty as it looks sitting in the corner I'd really like it built!
one thing stopping me though (well other than Parcel Farce) is the front mech - what size do i need? Bikes that go uphill confuse me, there doesn't seem to be a mech size available that'll go straight on. Will a multi-clamp Shimano do the job?
Cheers,
Mark
I've no idea. I had to make a shim from plastic-bottle and duct tape to get my XT one to fit.
Yes,a multi clamp shimano,(I presume thats the type that comes with the plastic & metal shims),will fit.
Thats what I used when I built up my PA,& i'm sure that the seat tube is the same diameter on the Alpine.
Think they are a non-standard size. My Alpine frame came with shims to make the mech fit.
What he siad, I used 2 different sized shimano clamp things and it works fine. Mike sent me the proper custom bits but I forgot to use them.
alpines have a different seat tube from PA's.
i bought the wrong one so i used a innertubes to shim it out
it seems to work
28.6 top pull is the correct size
