Ilfracombe to Plymouth
Anyone done it?
About 108 miles (plus a bit more to back to Barnstaple to catch train) I believe, doable in a day or best in two?
What's it like reversed (starting in Plymouth)?
If taking 2 days are there any decent off road detours to make it worthwhile slogging out on the hardtail or just stick to Sustrans route and the road bike?
I've done the one in this book http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Mountain-bike-rides-to-the-South-West-A4-size.html
Similar to the Sustrans one, but with some nice off road bits here and there to keep it a bit more interesting.
Done it over 3 days with (pregnant) wife and friends and also myself and a mate did it on cyclocross bikes in one day... and missed the train back as we were faffing and didn't leave until about midday and thought there was a later train. ๐ณ
Its a major hassle (for wife) getting back if you miss the train ๐
