I have a regular Marsh Guard style mudguard on my front fork. Works great, no complaints with its performance.
Unfortunately, every time I put the bike in my car, it gets squashed and crumpled up (regardless of how I put it in the car). I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to.
Are there any decent mudguards that can be clipped on and off easily somehow? I know I can use velcro straps on the Marsh Guards, but still a faff.
It looks like the Powa Dfender can be removed, but it looks a bit overkill and is pricey.
Thanks,
Duane.
Rrp neoguard and leave it on?
Shockboard can be quick released but it does tend to flap around on the standard mount (I always ziptie mine)
velcro straps take 1 minute to put on and remove, not a huge faff in the scheme of things.
That's something that used to be common on sports bikes in the 1930s, back when they used the same bike for everything and rode to events.
A spring clip or two and wingnuts for the stays, in the right places and you could detach the guards in about 30 seconds.
I've been trying to get a good system worked out for my fatbike because getting it into the car with full mudguards is a PITA.
(I'm talking about proper big mudguards, not the short spray guards that are the common solution)
@epicyclo The PDW Mud Shovel clips on and off in a few secondsย https://www.charliethebikemonger.com/pdw-daves-mud-shovel-fender-rear-2964-p.asp ย the biggest problem though is that the attachment mechanism is a fabric strap that tends to stretch over time.
Powa Defender is the only one ive found that actually works. ย All the other clip on guards have broken or flapped around.
I just have a crudcatcher on the downtube and the old inner tube trick on the suspension forks. Combo works great and no need to remove.
I endeavoured with the Mudshovel for a few years but the bracket is poorly designed - to get it tight enough results in the cam pivot mechanism breaking.
@dovebiker - mine fell off during last weekend's ride, err, hike-a-bike, I couldn't be arsed to go back the 100 metres or so and grab it. It really needs a proper clamp - there's only a few seat post diameters so design the clamp to fit the largest and ship with shims for the others.

The PDW Mud Shovel clips on and off in a few seconds ...
That looks pretty good for protecting your back, but doesn't protect your lower legs against spray, especially on a fatbike.
Not a problem on a shortish ride, but if you're out all day, the less wetness you get clinging to you, the less heat you use.

This ... clean face in all conditions, it's worth the money.
