I'm working in Willington and staying in Derby next week.
Are there any marked trails within a 30 minute drive worth visiting after work?
Cheers
Cannock is just over 30mins away and best bet if you want marked trails
There is a new cycle centre at Moira but think its more family orientated
The ticknall loop on the STW trail guide is rideable straight from willington (along the canal to swarkstone and pick up the route half way round) and prob the best natural stuff in the immediate area, is pretty claggy mud at the moment though, that's my local night ride, it's not technical and quite flat but decent evening ride, there are some jumps and short trails in robin woods on the route
Sherwood pines is about an hour (not worth it IMO)
Peak is an hour-hour half if your willing to drive that bit further then it's by far the best riding in the area
Ambergate, black rocks, Crich 30mins but you need to know where your going
Belper, the Chevin, drum hill is rideable from derby and a decent length taking a loop out kedeston-mercaston way and back via breadsall not technical and some road sections, just link up obvious bridleways
I'm centre of Derby btw
That's great thanks. I'll give Cannock a go tues or wednesday evening if I can get out of work early enough.
Cannock - In evenings park at marquis drive rather than birches valley as they lock the gates at BV
That's handy to know! Do you know what milage a loop is or approximate time needed?
Follow the dog 7km
Monkey 8km
I think roughly,
monkey links into dog so do them both, monkey is far better, dog prob more a blue than a red, probably about 1.5hours taking it steady if its your first visit
Check the chasetrails website for a map, also regular night rides so may be people to show you round the miles of quality off piste stuff
Thanks for your help ๐
Nothing like a bit of local wisdom
