[#4656622]

Could anyone keep me right on my current HT project.

I'm planning on going 1x10 and just need to make sure I buy the correct derailleur.

I have a Middleburn UNO 32t crank and a 11-36 ten speed cassette.

So for a rear mech I've been looking at SRAM X9/X0 but don't know if I can get away with a short cage or need to play safe with a Med/Long cage instead. Any thoughts or experiences would be welcomed...

I've gone 24/28 by 11/36 and a medium is fine, just.

Okay so I need to aim for a medium then. Or given my range perhaps limited to the long?

Don't use long with 1x10! Medium or possibly short (but my LBS recommended medium with SRAM because the short clogs too easily with mud and leaves).

You need whichever one gives you the required 25T capacity
Can't remember if the short will do that

EDIT: the SRAM short should be OK, although the DH version is only rated for a 28t max cassette cog so don't use that one

So looking like a medium then.

How do I work out the 25T capacity?

Just built my soul with 32t mrp podium ring, mrp 1x guide, 11-36t xt cassette and GS caged 2013 xt shadow plus

I'm not a sram fan at all and i'm extremely impressed by the silence of shadow+
Shifting is the usual shimano perfect

No chain slap and i've no chainstay protector.

36 - 11 = 25
The front is irrelevant as it's a single ring

Yes agreed, always used shimano gearing so this would be my first SRAM venture...
