[#2938731]

Hi

I recently got a new frame and decided to swap every thing over an On One 456 but due to my front drailir being bottom pull i had to get a new one. i got a http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=40546

The problem is before i even fitted it on the frame the bit where the chain goes thru i noticed was a lot thinner, but tried to fit it and see.
I lined it up and fiddled around and when I try put it on the top chainring the derailar will hit the middle cog, althoug i could raise it, it would hhave to be so high that if the chain went onto the top cog it would jump off straight away. ( Not tried it but sure this would happen)

Help please ??

I may be wrong but the rest of my drive chain is set for 8 speed so is this new derailer not compatable althou it does not say 9 speed . Is that just the standard now 9 speed unless it says 8 or 10

Or

The rest of my drive set is Alivio and this mech is Deore , are different sets not compattable ?

Thanks for reading this waffle if u have got this far ๐Ÿ™‚ and any help is much appricated

That is a 9 speed mech designed for a 44 to 48 outer ring. I am guessing your Alivio is a 42T outer?

It should be possible to get it to work but it won't be perfect.

Yeah just checked top chain is 42 . So should I just return Mech and get the Alivio mech ? I take it 8 speeds are becoming obsolete then as not many 8 speed ones.

Thanks for your help
