Does anyone have experience of these hubs?
What kind of riding are they suitable for and what are they like to maintain?
How does their performance differ?

Performance - nowt, maybe a little weight.
Durabilty - XT is way ahead as it has proper rubber contact seals (as does LX) vs "labyrinth" seals which are crap.

Not found the seals on Deore 525 hubs to be any different from XT of the same ilk, Deore 475s are pretty crap mind.Strip and grease from new, and regularly service a 525 or XT and it'll last for ages.
