Guangdong

Do they make anything legit there?

Edit: Are these the groupsets where the only thing Shimano is the mech and shifter and the rest is generic stuff?

Well looks like they have no factories in Guangdong, do not an outlet of some kind

HH yes that kind of thing. They also do the "groupset" cranks for a bit more. Can't seem to get one elsewhere (Merlin etc), oh hang on CRC have the 6100 hmmm

I bought a deore 12spd m6100 mech from aliexpress last month, £38 delivered (with 8% back from quidco) its genuine, I can tell because it has a blob of that green grease that is exclusive to shimano 😉

They will be OEM supplied, someone is breaking their supply contract. Get em while they are cheap.

Got to be difficult to make a knock off rear mech.

However there are knock off shimano chains out there, but they are easy to spot so just check.

EDIT: this was the item I bought, a little cheaper now. Had it in my hands in 16 days.

I'm assuming that mech would shift  on a 51 tooth in the deore  listed above

yes its the same as this

https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/shimano-deore-rd-m6100-12-speed-rear-derailleur-959990

max 51T min 10t 12 speed (so also good for big 10 and 11 speed cassettes).

I wouldn't use it on a smaller range 42 or 46 max, use an RD-M5120 for that.
