I don't see the problem with Halfords. Their bikes are low-to-mid price/quality but they are an important part of the market. The spanners at my local branch is a mate! If you are worried that you bike hasn't been built perfectly right, re-build it yourself!
I bought a FS Team through C2W last year. Very happy with the purchase but it's never felt good enough to be my go to bike. Doesn't really feel though enough to throw about with my weight on it!
Saying that, it is an XC bike. As an XC bike it does perform really well and I'm glad I bought it.
Getting it even cheaper through C2W makes an already good deal a fantastic deal.
There are a lot of guys in the road clubs riding them now as both summer and winter bikes. Can't say I've heard a bad word about them out on the road or any snobbery. The limited edition one last year (maybe two years ago now) looked amazing (imo) and I'd have been happy to have bought the new one when it comes out, if something else didn't come along.
Doubt I could be called a brand snob anyway, buy a lot of cycling gear from Aldi/Lidl, bike fleet contains a Saracen, Iron Horse, Boardman, Trek, 2 x Giants. I like value for money more than brand names!
